Get Fyrien

Fyrien is in alpha. The desktop app isn't published as a downloadable build yet. You can build it from source today — everything below works — and packaged releases will land here when they're ready.

Desktop

The desktop app is where a vault is created, and it's the fullest version of Fyrien: direct filesystem access to your markdown, the editor, and every Context view.

Build from source

Requires Node.js and pnpm.

For a packaged application bundle instead of a dev run, use pnpm --filter @fyrien/desktop dist. Builds produced this way are unsigned, so macOS Gatekeeper and Windows SmartScreen will warn on first launch — on macOS, right-click the app and choose Open.

Web and mobile

app.fyrien.com runs Fyrien in the browser, including on a phone, where it can be installed to the home screen. It needs no download.

One thing to know: the web app opens an existing vault rather than creating one. You'll need to set up a vault and enable sync in the desktop app first, then sign in on the web with the same account and sync passphrase.

Do you need an account?

Only for sync. Fyrien works entirely offline against files on your own disk with no account at all. A Fyrien account adds end-to-end encrypted sync between devices and reminders that fire when the app is closed.
